Laura Linney has been hailed as one of America's top well-known actors. Linney is renowned for playing strong characters that are as fragile. Her father was a celebrated writer, however she was raised as a single child with a single mother who was a nurse. Through the summer months when she was with her father, Linney developed a passion for the theatre. Linney eventually pursued acting first in Brown University then at Juilliard School. In the two years following the graduation, she began the beginning of her Broadway career. A few years later, she was in television. Over the past few years, she's appeared in numerous films, television productions as well as stage productions. She's been nominated for three Oscar Awards, five Tony Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards (including two Golden Globe Awards), as well as received numerous awards over her time on the stage. The actress has received nominations for five Tony Awards, and three Oscar Awards nominations. But, in spite of her awards and accolades, the stage is where she's at and she'll continue to act on both stage and screen.
